3 Things Fence Contractors Can Do That DIY Can't

February 24, 2026

Setting posts correctly in difficult ground. Ledge, wet areas, and sandy coastal soil all require different approaches and, in some cases, different equipment. Posts that are not set properly are the most common reason a fence fails early.

Holding a line across grade change. A fence that steps or racks across a slope has to be planned before the first post goes in. Getting the transitions right is what separates a fence that looks intentional from one that looks improvised.

Fabricating what does not come in a box. Custom gate widths, oversized openings, curved runs, and posts that tie into stone walls come out of our shop. That is not something a stock panel from a big-box store will solve.

If you are handling your own project, stop by the Pembroke showroom. We are glad to talk through the layout with you and supply the materials.
